"It was from my own life experiences of bereavement, abuse, stress, anxiety and PTSD that finally lead me to becoming a counsellor. I have being a counsellor for 10 years, previous to this I was a Samaritan for 3 years. Other Previous voluntary work I was engaged in was, National Committee for Organ Retention, student counsellor and Patient and Public Involvement Forums. Up until March 2009, I did voluntary work for Survivors of childhood abuse (in which I was also vice-chair), and a local GP surgery. My training also includes family, couple and children counselling. I previously did voluntary work for the National Bereavement Partnership, a specialist Service which offered advice on post mortems, coroners and inquests. I have drawn on my life experiences and that of a counsellor to create a unique set of emotional literacy cards to help clients to express their feelings. They are currently receiving excellent feedback from a variety of national and local services. I am now a BACP accredited counsellor, also registered with the UKRCP. I also work in the NHS as a Primary Care Counsellor."
